We are pleased to welcome Chris Hunt as Kenno’s Chief Investment Officer (CIO), effective October 14, 2026. Chris is based at our head office in Singapore, where he leads our investment team, including our analysts in Hanoi, and oversees our investment process. His appointment supports our plans to grow through new products and partnerships.
Chris brings more than 30 years of research and investment experience, including senior leadership roles across Asia. He has led pan-regional equity research teams for Macquarie, CIMB and HSBC, and has lived and worked in eight countries across the region. Most recently, he served as Head of Research at Ho Chi Minh City Securities Corporation (HSC), one of Vietnam’s leading securities firms, which gave him first-hand knowledge of the market where we invest.
“Chris brings extensive experience leading research teams across Asia and a deep understanding of Vietnam,” says Mikael Nastamo, CEO and Co-Founder of Kenno. “I’m thrilled to have him join us and help strengthen our investment team as we grow. He shares our values and our commitment to putting clients first.”
Chris’ official appointment follows Vietnam’s reclassification by FTSE Russell to Secondary Emerging Market status in September 2026, which brings Vietnamese stocks into funds that track FTSE’s emerging market indices as inclusion is phased in through September 2027. Having invested in Vietnam since 2015, we see the upgrade as an opportunity to broaden our international investor base.
Interest in emerging markets is also rising among investors in the Nordics, home to many of our clients. In Finland, global emerging market equity funds took in EUR 764 million in January–September 2026, more than three times the EUR 237 million that went into North American equity funds, according to Finance Finland. In Sweden, investors added SEK 21.5 billion to emerging market equity funds and withdrew SEK 18.4 billion from North American equity funds over the same period, according to the Swedish Investment Fund Association.
“Kenno’s deep local knowledge, coupled with excellence in fundamental research, creates an exciting investment proposition,” says Chris. “When share prices diverge from the underlying value of a business, rigorous research, disciplined valuation and patience matter. It will be exciting working with the team as we leverage those principles for the benefit of our clients.”
As the firm grows, our focus stays where it has always been, on the long-term return on our clients’ capital. If you would like to meet Chris or learn more about our investment approach, feel free to reach out to us.
